These words are iconic. You hear them everywhere, you may even have your own Siri or version of a personal assistant. They are easy to use and super convenient in our hectic world.
What they don’t tell you is that with about $3 of attachments a hacker can get into them and then all of your connected devices. A hacker can send a command over an ultrasonic frequency above the hearing range of humans. This form of hacking is called a DolphinAttack.
The hacker can:
Tell an iPhone to call someone
Have a MacBook open to a website
Turn Airplane Mode on in your Windows PC
Or even open your doors
Because this is done at such a high frequency, you won’t know until it’s too late!
You can turn of the mics on most of these devices and that will protect you from getting hacked but that defeats the ‘always on, always available’ prospect of them.
