As we get ready for the holiday season, we would like to remind you that hackers are working extra hard this time of year. Here are a few tips to help out:
Online Shopping:
1: Make sure you are on the correct website. If you are on your phone, read the entire website address!
2: Don’t click on pop-ups.
3: Stay away from ‘free’ stuff. Scammers love to try this.
4: Check the return address for the emails you receive.
5: Don’t open attachments in emails from an unfamiliar source.
In Store Shopping:
If you are using a card, check that the card reader hasn’t been tampered with. Hackers will place cameras on them to get your card number and pin!
Phone Shopping:
If someone calls you, hang up and call the company back. Hackers have been passing themselves off as representatives from legitimate companies.
