Recent researchers have found that the total cost to buy an identity on the Dark Web is $1,200. That’s include social security number, mother’s maiden name, birthday and all your personal information that is needed to steal your identity!
If the cybercriminals don’t want your entire identity the can just buy bits and pieces like your log ins to Facebook or Gmail accounts.
How does this happen?
There are any number of ways that this could happen. For instance, logging into an insecure website could release your information to the wrong person. You could get hacked or have viruses that can take over your information.
How to prevent this from happening:
1: Double check the website in your address bar is the one you want to be on.
2: Don’t give your information out to anyone.
3: Use two factor authentication if possible.
