While the cost of Android phones goes down so does the quality control. Recently there was a study showing that the Sound Recorder app that was preinstalled was actually a remote access trojan (RAT)!
This was missed before they shipped them to the stores and there has been no attempt to fix the error.
This remote access trojan or RAT can access:
- The phone number
- Phones location, including longitude, latitude, and a street address
- Manufacturer, model, brand, OS version
- SD Card size
- Language and country
- Mobile phone service provider
It also has the ability to:
- Download and install apps
- Uninstall apps
- Open web pages in browsers
If you have the Sound Recorder app on your Android you should uninstall it and reinstall it from a play store.
