The newest ransomware making the rounds is being called CommonRansom and it’s making a strange request before they decrypt your data. The hackers want the usual bitcoin but on top of that they want you to open up your Remote Desktop Services.
The ransom note looks similar to this:
Chances are that if you pay the money they may decrypt your data but in the process they may also put more viruses on your computer.
How to protect yourself:
1: Externally back up your data.
2: Don’t open unfamiliar emails.
3: Do not open any links from strange emails.
4: If your data does get encrypted, don’t pay the ransom! There is no way to be sure that they will actually decrypt your data.
