We have told you about GrandCrab before.  It’s the virus that encrypts your entire computer then asks for a ransom to un-encrypt it.  What could be worse?

Hackers have added Vidar as an attachment.  Vidar downloads your data before initiating GrandCrab to encrypt it.

By doing this, even if you don’t pay the ransom, hackers can still make money by selling your data.

How does GrandCrab get onto your computer?

Malvertising is the main culprit in this version of GrandCrab.  Previous versions used phishing emails.

What can you do?

Be careful about the ads that you click on when you are surfing on the web!

Don’t open links that you aren’t sure about.

Back up your data!
