The newest ransomware showed up earlier this month and is call Anatova.  This is a two part ransomware that once on your computer installs two files, one to steal your data and the other to encrypt your data.

After encrypting your data it then deletes everything ten times in order to make it so that you can’t recover it without paying them a ransom.

How does it get on your computer?

Malware researchers have discovered that it uses an icon for a game or application that lures your into downloading it.

Ransom note looks like:

How to protect yourself:

1:  Make sure that you always back up your data.

2:  Don’t download games or applications from 3rd party websites.

3:  Have an antivirus on your device and make sure it’s up-to-date!
