This new strain of malware is capable of getting into web browser cookies and stealing text messages, credit card credentials and passwords.
After the cookies are collected, they are uploaded to a server where the hackers are then able to use that information.
Which browsers are getting hacked?
This malware is focusing on Apple’s Safari browser as well as Google Chrome.
What are they stealing?
Hackers are stealing usernames, passwords, and credit card information in Chrome.
They are also able to steal text messages from iPhones that have been backed up to a Mac.
What can you do?
Don’t save your passwords on your computer. Put them in a notepad or something similar to that and type them in every time that way they aren’t saved on the browser.
Clean out your cookies and your browser history.
Make sure you have an antivirus running and up-to-date.
