These were the first email accounts to be used and some of us still have one of these accounts even if we don’t use it very often.
Recently, Microsoft has notified people with these accounts that they may have been hacked. Microsoft states that the hackers were able to access email address, folder names, subject lines of emails and email addresses that you communicate with and with 6% of accounts, hackers were able to see the actual emails instead of just the subject line.
The breach took place between January 1st and March 28th of this year.
What should you do?
Normally we would suggest changing your password, however this breach had nothing to do with your login information.
It appears that Microsoft was hacked and the hackers got the information from inside so your passwords were never in use.
