The latest phishing scam is an email that recommends that you add your phone number for two factor authentication. Then says that if you don’t, your account will be deactivated!
The email looks something like this:
If you click on the button in the email, it will take you to a webmail login that already has your email filled in.
But you won’t be able to login. This is all just a way to steal your credentials.
What should you do?
1: Double check the email that you are getting.
2: Don’t open an email if you don’t know who it’s from.
3: No web service is ever going to deactivate your account if you don’t want to have the two factor authentication activated.
If you got the email and think that your account has been compromised, contact your system administrator to get it fixed!
